Mobile You...

If there's anyone out there considering purchasing Apple's Mobil Me, there are a few things to consider before making the switch...

Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts DON'T work seamlessly with any device OTHER than the iPhone.  There are solutions out there that enable you to have the same information in all places (I use the Blackberry), but none that allow a completely mobile experience.

You can't send mail "From" accounts that don't have a .mac, or .me domain .  If you have a business e-mail address, this kind of sucks.  I'm not sure WHY apple's service is the ONLY major service out there that won't allow this, but I'm sure they'd attract far more consumers if they did.

Mobile Me works very well if you're using several computers (in my case 6 different computers consistently); Contact and Calendar data can be accessed at several different locations.  I wish they'd integrate Mobile Me sync with Windows Live Mail - in addition to Outlook.  Outlook is slow, and antiquated... well, I'm off topic- read my other posts to find out how I feel about Outlook.  Live mail is the way of the future for Microsoft.  It's fast, reliable, and plays nicely with most services out there.
When will a solution exist that meets entirely the needs of consumers like me? Now THAT would be a service worth paying for - services that didn't care WHICH devices you wanted to use.

To summarize, I want my CRM data to be the same across ALL of my devices.  I don't want to be stuck to a carrier, or device in order to have this ability.  When I add an appointment to my Blackberry (it's native calender application), I'd love for it to appear on my other devices.

I understand that google does something similar (for Blackberry), but it's VERY geared to using the web mail application.

The first company that drops the proprietary limitations will hit a home-run with people like me.  All of a sudden Mobil Me services would be worth a lot more - maybe even $99 a year.
